About This Painting
Rockaway Shift is an original isometric cube painting in earth tones — a geometric composition exploring interlocking cube forms through hand-painted angles that create a vivid sense of depth, dimension, and spatial shift.
The palette draws on warm earth tones and deep blue — terracotta, burnt sienna, warm grey, and a grounding navy that anchors the composition. The isometric geometry creates an almost architectural logic: forms that could be building blocks, stacked volumes, or the cross-section of something much larger. The paint surface is matte and textured, balancing visual energy with a grounded, material warmth.
Geometry and the Handmade
What distinguishes Rockaway Shift — and Norah Kennedy’s geometric work more broadly — is the presence of the hand. These are not mechanically precise diagrams; they are hand-painted works where the geometry is felt as much as measured. Edges carry slight variations, surfaces hold the trace of the brush, and the overall effect is of something both structured and alive.
The isometric projection — a favourite formal device in the Rockaway series — allows three-dimensional form to be suggested on a flat surface without perspective distortion. The result is a composition that feels simultaneously flat and deeply spatial.
Original Geometric Art for Bold Interiors
Rockaway Shift suits contemporary interiors where geometry and warmth coexist — living rooms, offices, hospitality spaces, or any environment that benefits from strong, considered visual presence. The earth-tone palette makes it highly versatile across different interior colour schemes.
Unique original artwork, hand-painted in the artist’s Irish studio. Ready to hang. Certificate of authenticity included.
